Led by Amal McCaskill's 20 points and 14 rebounds, the Albany Patroons defeated the East Kentucky Miners in overtime, 125-120, taking six of seven standings points and solidifying their hold on second place in the Continental Basketball Association's American Conference. This gives the Pats a two-game home sweep of the visiting Miners.
McCaskill, a 6'10" forward from Marquette University, dominated in the low post, helping the Patroons win the first two quarter-points, 28-26 and 25-24. MCaskill was one of three Patroons to score 20 or more points, also reaching that plateau were guards Nat Burton (21 pts) and Chad Timberlake (20 points). Burton and Timberlake combined for five three-pointers in the game, and Timberlake added three key steals in the contest.
For the Miners, Syracuse University grad Josh Pace, who played all 48 minutes of the game, plus five minutes in overtime, led his team in scoring with 29 points. Pace was one of two players on the floor representing Syracuse University in the game; Albany's Orange man, Dayshawn Wright, scored 14 points and pulled down seven clutch rebounds in the contest.
The Patroons will be on the road for the next three games, including Monday night at Pittsburgh, and a two-game series against the Miners in Pikeville, Kentucky on November 17th and 19th, before returning to the Washington Avenue Armory to host the Oklahoma Cavalry, led by former Patroon player and coach Micheal Ray Richardson.
