Albany Patroons v. Yakama Sun Kings
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Mar. 28, 2007 GAME 2, CBA CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS |

Jamario Moon with a fourth-quarter slam!

Patroons acting head coach Derrick Rowland, who has learned under Phil Jackson, Bill Musselman, George Karl and Charley Rosen, maps out another play on the sidelines for the Patroons.

To bring him good luck in the finals, Felipe Lopez wore his old St. John's Red Storm college basketball shorts under his Patroons uniform.

Yes, that's Eric Williams, the former Patroon All-Star, on the sidelines next to Patroons general manager Jim Coyne.

Gordon Klaiber's about to pop a shot past Eddy Barlow.

Reggie Jessie keeps the Patroons in the game with clutch third-quarter points.

Kwan Johnson sees an opening, while coach Derrick Rowland looks on from a distance.

Albany Patroons v. Yakama Sun Kings
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Mar. 27, 2007 GAME 1, CBA CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS |

Albany major Jerry Jennings, on the left, enjoys championship basketball action courtside with Patroons General Manager Jim Coyne and his wife Diane.

Kareem Reid drives around the perimeter, giving Rocky Walls the "lean."

Nothing like being triple-teamed by Felipe Lopez, Chris Sockwell and Jamario Moon, eh?

Jamario Moon, the CBA 2007 Defensive Player of the Year, shows plenty of offense with this 2-point layup, which eventually tied the playoff game at 52-52 in the second quarter.

Kwan Johnson brings the ball up court, hoping to start a fourth-quarter rally.

Albany mayor Jerry Jennings and CBA Referee Ron Arthur share a good laugh during a timeout. I couldn't hear the joke Jennings was telling Arthur - but I think the punchline was "The Aristocrats."

Albany Patroons v. Yakama Sun Kings
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Mar. 18, 2007 |

Felipe Lopez sees an open man to set up a scoring play.

To make this a fair fight, Kareem Reid will now man up against Eddy Barlow while standing on one foot.

Remember every dunk Jamario Moon has made for the Patroons in the past two years... especially when he goes to the NBA next year and starts dunking on everyone up there.

The Emeralds dance with their newest charges, the Junior Emeralds.

Nothing up Chris Sockwell's sleeve... nothing in his hat... but abracadabra, presto chango, magically a ball appears - and two points are scored.

Kwan Johnson gets full extension on this layup.

Jamario Moon was motivated tonight... scouts in the arena... playoffs on the line... and before the game, some kid stole his favorite hat off his head. He got the hat back, though... too bad Galen Young won't get these points back off this block.

The Emeralds and the Junior Emeralds smile for the camera.

Thanks to all the fans this year - see you in the playoffs!!!!

Begorrah, 'tis Marvin Phillips showing his support for the auld sod on St. Patrick's Day.

The Patroons' scoring and announcing table watch as John Strickland bulldozes through three Sun Kings.

Gordon Klaiber, or "Young G" to his teammates and fans, shoots a jumper over Jason Forte.

Albany Patroons v. Butte Daredevils
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Mar. 9, 2007 |

Back in January, Felipe Lopez spoke at Albany's School 19. Before the game against the Butte Daredevils, Lopez posed with members of the Public School 19 basketball squad.

Felipe Lopez also posed with members of the Public School 19 cheerleading squad.

While everyone else is getting ready for tip-off, Patroons assistant coach Ben Smith draws a small upwards arrow on Jamario Moon's left knee - to symbolize going up in the air.

Kwan Johnson had 28 points in the first half, including this 3-ball in the corner pocket.

Forget the dance teams for the Conquest or the River Rats ... the Patroons' Emeralds are the hottest dance team in all of Capital District sports.

Carl Mitchell fights for a shot under the hoop.

Lido better watch out, or his picture will end up on the MySpace page of that girl in the stands with the camera phone.

Jamario Moon with another hanging slam ...

And the School 19 cheer squad goes
WILD!!

Micheal Ray Richardson tries to warn Kareem Reid that Butte's Ronald Ross is going to try to find an open man.

Bring the family, everybody can have a great time at an Albany Patroons basketball game!

Albany Patroons v. Butte Daredevils
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Mar. 7, 2007 |

Before the game, Jamario Moon gives a future Patroon slam jammer an assist.

Reggie Jessie is about to ring this ball past David Bell.

Kwan Johnson with a layup jam.

In the fourth quarter, Kareem Reid passed the ball UNDER HIS LEGS to Gordon Klaiber, who got two points off the assist. Way to go!

Chris Sockwell, one of two Patroons stars who played their college ball in the Northeast Athletic Conference (Sockwell from St. Francis of New York; Gordon Klaiber from Fairleigh Dickinson). Lot of good talent coming out of the NEC these days...

John Strickland is about to go through Nick VanderLaan like VanderLaan was a bowling pin.

We're about to have a Wham Bam J-Moon Jam in about a second and a half...

Marvin Phillips with a steal and he's off and running...

Attending an Albany Patroons game is a great time to have some fun. Bring your friends!

Albany Patroons v. Indiana Alley Cats
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Mar. 6, 2007 |

Sorry, Mr. Fountain, your call to the hoop did not go through. Please check the number and dial again, or just wait while Gordon Klaiber rejects your call again.

Carl Mitchell sizes up Carl Edwards.

Felipe Lopez flying through the air, about to throw down from uptown.

Left hand raising the ball to the hoop - right hand holding back an Alley Cat - Kareem Reid, the king of multitasking.

Jamario Moon giving a dunk clinic in the fourth quarter.

Kwan Johnson had a strong night, including three steals and a thunder-slam in the third quarter... He played so hard that one of his sneakers ripped apart; no problem - just grab a replacement shoe, get back on the court, and score some more!

With all the TV stations covering Siena and UAlbany in their respective tournaments, WNYT-13 had to sign up some new on-air talent. Back to you in the studio, Rodger...

Albany Patroons v. Indiana Alley Cats
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Mar. 2, 2007 |

While scoring two points on a shot under the basket, Kwan Johnson does his best imitation of that little figurine on a basketball trophy.

Carl Mitchell powers his way around Indiana's Will Caudle.

A Jamario Moon haiku...
Flying through the air
two more pointson a fast break
Alley Cats got MOONED...
Five - seven - five - yeah, that works...

John Strickland's got his hand-held binoculars working again... Either that, or he's doing his imitation of Mike Tyson's peek-a-boo boxing stance.

Chris Sockwell with a monster throw-down against the Alley Cats.

Earlier in the game, Gordon Klaiber got off a rare one-handed dunk - but there was an Alley Cat player in the way, so we're just going to have to live with this spectacular two-handed throwdown in the fourth quarter.

Kareem Reid is about to take the ball to the hoop.

Albany Patroons v. Indiana Alley Cats
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Feb. 28, 2007 |

All you haters out there who clowned John Strickland ever since he put on this uniform... He just dropped 19 points on the Alley Cats, including these two points on a fast break layup...
HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW???

Reggie Jessie on the run, setting up a play.

You know, if Charles Barkley can outrun Dick Bavetta, I wonder if Felipe Lopez can outrun this referee... Even if the ref gets a head start...

And now, for our long distance dedication... Dear Casey, could you please play "S.O.S." by Rhianna so that I can watch the Emeralds, the hottest dance team in the CBA, shake it like a Polaroid picture? Thanks, sincerely, Lido T. Panda, Albany. Okay Lido, here's your long distance dedication...

You always see the Jamario Moon dunks, but look at him just before he's about to launch for one. Especially check out the eyes. Total concentration. If you're the other team and you see that look in J-Moon's eyes, start saying your prayers now...

Gordon Klaiber back in the
HOUSE with the two-handed jam!!

Marvin Phillips back in the
HOUSE with a one-handed slam!!

Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Feb. 24, 2007 |

Felipe Lopez goes up for an easy two points.

Head coach Micheal Ray Richardson is
just a little upset over a call.

Do your thing, Emeralds...

Kareem Reid launches one from the top of the key.

Marvin Phillips fights for a jumper in traffic.
|
Albany Patroons v. Minot Skyrockets
Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, NY Feb. 23, 2007 |

Reggie Jessie with the second of his two back-to-back fast breaks in the first quarter, that helped Albany gain the first quarter point of the night.

Kwan Johnson muscles his way up against Minot's new acquisition, Melvin Scott.

Carl Mitchell skies over Minot's Desmond Ferguson.

Felipe Lopez finds an open lane to the hoop.

Micheal Ray Richardson and John Strickland applaud a great Patroons defensive play.

Say kids, do you know I now have a T-shirt with my face on it at the Patroons souvenir stand? By the way, this is a great spot to watch a Patroons game...

Yeah, I know it was called an offensive foul on Carl Mitchell... but you can't waste a photograph like this...

Kareem Reed, Albany's newest point guard, slices through the Minot defense like a razor. Well, considering Kareem is a former Razorback, it makes sense...

Before the game started, a moment of silence was held in memory of Albany firefighter Theodore Abriel, who died in the line of duty earlier this week.
